Bespoke Steel Support Frame Installed for Cooling System
Bespoke steelwork is often about solving a very specific problem on a live site — and this recent project is a great example. CCI Ltd has just completed the fabrication and installation of a custom steel support frame designed to carry a cooling system within an existing industrial unit.
The red portal-style frame was purpose-built to suit the building’s current structure, tying in neatly with the surrounding columns and cladding while delivering the strength and rigidity required for the equipment above. Cooling plant can generate significant loads and vibration, so getting the support arrangement right is essential for both performance and safety. This frame provides a stable platform, helping the system operate efficiently and reliably day to day.
Working for a local temperature-controlled packaging company, our team coordinated closely with site staff and other trades to ensure measurements, clearances and fixing points aligned exactly as planned. From initial survey through to fabrication, painting and final installation, every stage was managed with accuracy to minimise disruption and ensure a smooth fit on site.
In the workshop, the frame was fabricated with precision-cut members, welded connections and base plates to suit the slab and existing steelwork. On site, installation was completed using MEWPs, controlled lifting, and exclusion zones.
Once the steelwork was in position, we completed final checks to confirm levels, connections and tolerances, ensuring the frame integrated correctly and was ready to support the cooling equipment. The finished result is a robust, practical solution — bespoke to the space, compliant with site requirements, and delivered on schedule.
Projects like this highlight what CCI Ltd does best: designing, fabricating and installing steelwork that supports real operational needs. If your facility requires structural alterations, equipment supports, or tailored frames to suit existing buildings, we’d be happy to help — from concept to completion.
